Akela is my first White Shepherd.  He's almost 8 years old.  I got him from a German shepherd rescue in Houston Tx.  He's a great dog, even though he drives me crazy sometimes!  When we lived in Texas, we used to be able to go to the beach often, he loved being able to play in the water!

Akela has minor hip dysplasia, so he doesn't do agility.  I do train him in obedience, both tradtional and rally.  We've shown in Rally with WorldWide Kennel Club and he has his Novice title with two legs towards the Advanced title.  We haven't shown in tradtional yet, mainly because I like Rally better!  The photo is from our first Rally trial.  Novice is performed on lead.  He actually looks like an obedience dog in this photo!

Akela is always entertaining, whether it's watching him sleep and chase rabbits in his dreams or the grunts and groans he makes when he lays down.  He's good with the cats, although when they first came home, they each became the center of his universe.  He would follow them extremely closely, wondering what on earth they'd do next (and looking to me to see why I wasn't as interested in them!)
